About this session

Assessing programs within the arts is so critical, yet often extremely elusive, complicated and nuanced. In this workshop and town hall, Linsey Bostwick (NYU) and Carla Costa (Amherst) will lead the group through models they have used with their teams to assess the sustainability and alignment of programs and then open it up for others to share additional tools.

Speakers

Linsey Bostwick

Director, NYU Production Lab
New York University

Linsey Bostwick currently serves as the Director of the NYU Production Lab which is dedicated to development in artist career sustainability and growth. Linsey is also an adjunct professor in NYU Tisch’s Theater Studies program and works with performance company Sweat Variant in Partnership Development.

Linsey spent 2016-2022 living and working in the Middle East as the Director of Artistic Planning at The Arts Center at New York University Abu Dhabi. From 2010-2016 she worked on the producing team of Pomegranate Arts with artists such as Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Lucinda Childs, Robert Wilson (Einstein on the Beach) and Taylor Mac. Bostwick has been published in the Yale Theatre Journal and the International Journal of Performance Arts and Digital Media. In Spring 2020 Bostwick guest edited the Electra Street journal dedicated to the relationship of art and research. Bostwick holds two Bachelor’s degrees from University of Washington: Seattle and a Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Performance and Media Arts from Brooklyn College.

Carla Costa

Program Director, Careers in Arts & Communication
Amherst College

Carla Costa is the Director of the Careers in Arts & Communication program at Amherst College where she partners with undergraduate students in designing career pathways defined by creativity, rigor, and curiosity. Before joining Amherst, Carla spent seven years at Hampshire College leading interdisciplinary arts programs. Her work is deeply informed by her leadership of community-based arts organizations and a decade of experience as a freelance arts and culture writer. She holds an M.A. in Arts Administration from Columbia University Teachers College.
