Founding context
AAHE began as Campus Arts Directors, a name the group used until November 2009, when it selected the name Arts Administrators in Higher Education.
In March 2006, Eric Beatty of Johns Hopkins, Ty Furman of the University of Pennsylvania, and Jack Megan of Harvard hosted the first gathering at Harvard. Attendees included arts staff from Brandeis, Cal Tech, Dartmouth, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Virginia.
