Turning The Page – 2021 AAHE Annual Meeting
by Darin Martin | June 3, 2021
The past fifteen months have been anything but “normal,” as we have all had to figure out how to adapt, pivot, and reimagine what it means to be working in arts administration in higher education. Nobody could have imagined we would go from filling thousand-seat venues, hosting artist residency programs, and creating opportunities for our students to engage in the arts to re-thinking ways to showcase the arts in a primarily virtual world.
As cases are declining and vaccination rates are steadily increasing, we find ourselves in a place to think beyond the uncertainty of where we have sat for the past year. We find ourselves in a place of Turning The Page towards the future.

The AAHE annual meeting will take place virtually June 8-10, 2021, and we hope to engage the AAHE members and guests as we explore the lessons we have learned, the future of our field, and the steps we need to take to get there. Each member of AAHE brings unique perspectives that will add to our interactive conversations and sessions.
We are very excited to announce that our first keynote of this annual meeting will be with David C.Howse, who is named one of the 100 most influential people in Boston. David currently serves as the Vice President of the Emerson College Office of the Arts and the Executive Director of ArtsEmerson. David C. Howse is known for speaking on the arts and social integration, and we are excited for him to share his perspectives with us! David’s session is Wednesday, June 9 at 12:30 p.m. ET and you won’t want to miss it!
We are also excited to hear from our membership, as they present sessions on connecting with cultural partners, framing our experiences for career development, student engagement/learning, assessment, and mentorship. There will also be plenty of space to connect and network with each other. We would like to offer a special thank you to Leigh Fagin, Dara Meyers-Kingsley, Elena Muslar, Denise Penizzotto, Rachel Parke, Nicoleen Wilson, Ty Furman, and Kate Hewson and their contributions to these sessions.
